Why choose Lok-N-Logs?

Lok-N-Logs, Inc. has been producing one of the industry’s finest log homes for over 40 years. Custom Designs, Pre-Cut log components, lifetime transferable warranty, sodium borate pressure treating and our signature rustic peeled profile are just some of the many features that make Lok-N-Logs a customer and builder favorite!

Pre-Cut Logs

Our product speaks for itself.

When you compare log home companies and the log home packages which they provide, log joinery systems and log precutting should be two of your primary considerations. At LOK-N-LOGS we have refined and perfected the time-honored tongue and groove log building system so that you can build your LOK-N-LOGS home with complete confidence. Our sealing system is second to none and we encourage you to compare it with that of other manufacturers. We’re sure that LOK-N-LOGS stacks up favorably!

Some log home manufacturers do not precut your log components at all, choosing instead to provide a “random length” package which is labor intensive – driving up construction time and costs. Other companies precut only portions of your log package leaving open the possibility for costly cutting errors at the job site and the potential for equally costly construction delays. At LOK-N-LOGS we totally precut all of your log components. In addition to our 8′ high log walls, which feature precut corner joints and window and door openings, we also precut our full log gable ends – including roof angles and gable end openings. Regardless of your choice of log style or roof configuration, your LOK-N-LOGS home will arrive at your building site with precut house and porch rafters. We also precut the mortise and tenon floor joists and the main carrier beam connections for your second floor support system. Accurate precutting means less construction time on-site and translates into substantial construction costs savings. Responsibility for all log cuts lies with us, the manufacturer, not with the local contractor faced with the challanges presented by a “random length” log package.

Our customers have come to appreciate the benefits of our fully precut log home packages. Marilyn Musumeci and Jan Grantz of White Plains, New York, built their log walls in two weeks… “…doing most of the work ourselves with help from new freinds. We love our house,” they wrote, “and we feel a great sense of accomplishment knowing that we built it ourselves. Thank you for making that possible.” LOK-N-LOGS also offers a ‘technical assistance’ session as part of every log home package which we sell. A member of our trained start-up staff will visit your building site and show you or your builder how to properly stack our log wall system. We want your home to be the best it can be.

Kiln Dried

Less wait time and an easier build.

Kiln Drying has many benefits for log construction, Lok-N-Logs wall log components are dried to an average 19%. Lok-N-Logs is the only company to kiln dry and sodium borate pressure treat wall logs. Using these processes, we feel Lok-N-Logs is producing the highest quality log homes in the entire log industry.

An additional benefit of kiln dried wall logs is that the overall weight of the log is greatly reduced. This is a big asset to those setting the logs on the job site!

Finally, when kiln drying is combined with building techniques that allow for minor shrinkage of log components, much of the settling that is common during log construction can be minimized. Lok-N-Logs provides instructions in their plan details to assist the professional builder or the homeowner in the application of proper settling techniques.

Pressure Treated

Treated to last.

PRESSURE-TREATING WITH SODIUM BORATE
All of our log components are pressure-treated with Sodium Borate an EPA-approved, environmentally friendly, odorless and colorless industrial wood preservative. This treatment process provides protection for your log material against decay and wood ingesting insects (except Formosan subterranean termites). Our log material is pressure-treated in Lok-N-Logs own treating facilities so that we can monitor and control the preservative process.

Boron is an integral part of the natural world. As one of the 109 elements that make up the planet, boron is everywhere- in soil, water, plants and animals. Boron combines with oxygen and other elements to form boric acid, or inorganic salts called borates.

Borates are important ingredients in a variety of household and commercial products used in agriculture, ceramics, personal care products, fiberglass, glass and wood treatments.

Borate treated wood is a safe and long-lasting method to protect your home from wood destroying organisms. Borate treated wood has been used successfully for more then fifty years to prevent fungi decay and is deadly to termites, powder post beetles and old house bores- but safe for people, pets and the environment. With Borate Pressure Treating and proper exterior maintenance, your log home will carry Lok-N-Logs Transferable Lifetime Warranty. We feel strongly enough about the benefits of this product that we will cover not only the original homeowner, but also the next and the next.

Log Grading

Quality assured.

As further evidence of LOK-N-LOGS’ commitment to quality, we are currently grading all of our log material. Our grading operation is periodically reviewed by an independant third-party testing agency, Timber Products Inspection (TPI) of Conyers, Georgia.

What does this mean to you, the log home consumer?

Simply that you do not have to take our word, or even that of our customers, regarding the quality of our log home packages – our logs have met the strict standards of the American Society for Testing Materials whose policies are also approved by the Congress of American Building Officials. LOK-N-LOGS means precut log home quality that you can bank on.
